Man, around *here* I wouldn't do that.  We had our car broken into a few 
years ago, and the first thing they did was open the boot.  When they 
found nothing, they cut the speaker wires.  Apart from a bottle of washer 
fluid, a backpack with a backlight for my kid's gameboy (but not the 
gameboy itself), and about $0.12, they didn't get anything.  Burned a 
hole in the passenger seat with a cigarette (and the passenger visor has 
a burn mark on it), but that was it.
